Trying out a method I read about in the book, "Gardening with less water," by David A. Bainbridge. He uses buried clay pots, filled with water, to keep soil moist and reduce evaporation. I am using this with directly sewn seeds from Burpee: Cook's custom BEET mix.
My buried clay pot is kindof lame. It only takes 1 day for it to drain, which means daily watering. :(
